Over the last month and a half, I have been finding different U.S. denomination coins in my bank wrapped halves:
1 Penny --- was counted as a half
1 Dollar coin --- was counted as a half
1 quarter --- was not counted so was an extra coin in the roll
1 quarter --- was counted as a half
Luckily all of these boxes had silver so I came out ahead
I was just surprised that I ran into a penny being counted as a half
Today, I had another box that counted a quarter as a half; luckily the box had 4 90% JFKs and 2 40% JFKs so I didn't lose out.
Just curious if you guys have seen more of this lately???
How could a coin as small as a penny be counted as a half???

But have many of you gotten a penny or quarter in your half rolls?

I have gotten all of those other coins and more in Customer wrapped rolls (also many different foreign coins), but don't think I've gotten anything unusual in Bank rolled halves. Are you sure they weren't CWR's? I have had bank rolled halves over or shorted by one half numerous times.

I have found coins from Panama and Tanzania in rolls of halves, but never other US non-half coins.

I've found a dog tag in a bank roll. Bunches of other stuff too.

I have done about 10 boxes of halves and I have not seen anything in there other than clad halves. Well, one box had a couple of 40%'s and a couple beat up proof coins, but overall I am getting ready to quit halves if this box I have now does not turn something up. I am having better luck just asking tellers if they have any loose halves.

In rolls, found a quarter once.
In bags, just about everything including guitar picks and paper clips.
