Do you keep 1987 halves?

I sorted a box of halves and found 3 1987 halves in pretty good condition.

I know not many were minted.

Do you guys keep these? How much do you say they are worth?

I save all the 1987's. I have less than 10, I think. I also save all the other NIFC halfs, periodically spending the years that I have the most of, figuring that inicates less value. I would be interested in knowing what the value of any of the NIFC halfs is. But from my small experience, I would say the 1987's are the rarest.

Yea, I save them as long as they are not completely worn down. With the mintage numbers on these so low there eventually will be a premium. Other NIFCs tend to be a lot more common as well.

Are there any dates for the halves from 1971 to 2000 that should be saved besides the 1987 ? I was told I should be saving the 1986 ones.
Thank You for your time.

I'm not the authority on this subject, but from what I've been able to gather, the NIFC (Not intended for circulation) years are: 1987 and 2002-Present

I still have my 87's and all the other NIFC's that I have found....they maybe too young to really have a price on them

I find that 1999's are hard to find in good shape and save those if close to Uncirculated. Most 1987's (and D) are in great shape when I find them. They usually go back into the wild because people don't know they were NIFC's.

I also save proofs to put in my albums as I would never break a proof set up to put them in albums.

Can't think of any others except commemoratives which do turn up.

I save all NIFC's that are in nice shape.
I'm betting my Children and Grand-kids will like it when they find them after I'm gone.

PS - I'd be willing to trade a 40% Kennedy for any '87 if somebody wants to trade.
(I would like to trade for '87's that don't look warmed over caca. I toss those back including an '87S that had green splotches, I hated to do it, but it was really ruined badly).

PPS - I'll trade different years NIFC's for an even swap if somebody wants to complete a set (I don't have any '87's to trade, I wish I did). I'm looking for '09 and '10 P&D (&S).
