looks to me even after fee's selling bank sealed rolls might create more profits than actually opening and hoping to find silver.

looks like anywhere from $16-20+ per roll dlvd. even with shipping and fees, probably make more money than avg search, especially with how many people seem to get skunked on boxes

It does make one wonder, doesn't it. After fees, you'd probably net $4-$6 per roll x 50 rolls per box, maybe more. Sure, it's a lot of wrapping & standing on line at the PO, but to make $200 on a box the old-fashioned way you'd have to extract two full rolls of 40's.

Then again, I'm thinking the core of potential buyers is limited, and repeat customers hard to come by. Who's going to continue paying 1.8 x face if they get skunked a time or two?

well for one with paypal shipping you can print and pay for all your postage at home and just drop off in a mailbox (delivery confirmation is even cheaper thru paypal than at post office). plus with the rise of silver you would expect the pool of new customers to continue to grow as more people start to hear/gain interest in silver. Plus if times do get really bad, people will start taking shots at getting cheap silver I imagine

I for one could never sell an unopened roll of halves.I only get a few boxes a month,and I enjoy the thrill of the search.I would however profit more selling the rolls unopened...but im not selling my coins now anyways,so...

they way i think about it is if you reinvest the profits from roll selling back in silver, its more of a guaranteed silver return. kind of like hedging the last leg of a parlay bet. sure you give up the shot of a huge hit, but you lock in guaranteed profits (free silver at that) and thats how you will thrive over the long term.

it would be fun to take a picture of a solid roll of silver and send it back to the seller along with a comment "since this is most likely atypical, I can't leave positive feedback about my roll find."

Y'know, given another thread here on the forums, this would be quite the idea to dump excess half dollars other than a bank.

Get yourself a coin wrapping machine, salt a few Franklins and 40% halves into the mix to ensure "genuine silver finds" by some bidders, keep a sockpuppet account or two to make sure the positives are up on the seller account, and it'll be (somewhat) easy money.

i think the sellers that do this crap with that "possible silver" come on, to cover their a$$es aint nothing but a bunch of feckless curs, fully deserving to be bolted into oaken stocks for a day or two as punishment for bs mercantilism.

and if you think i'm just getting frothed up self righteous over a harmless little nothing, i've seen this stuff all my life, on the trading floor, in the newspapers, and that "hooray for me, a FU" type of mercantilism is precisely the reason, we find ourselves, looking forward to what promises to be hell week.

AHHH YES!!! Back to this topic again! I suppose I'll pass on writing out the brief essay on capitalistic freedoms vs. socialistic control. Please be mindful... while I don't fully agree with "selling the potential to find silver"... I just can't see myself attacking the people who do this (or consider it) for any substantive reason. I do relate the mindset of those selling these rolls to charging someone to metal detect in an owned field that has been known for people finding silver coins in it. I just can't see myself saying anything against it...

from a bidder who paid $28 for 1 roll, then claimed he was sold junk

If they are too lazy to get off their butts and go to the bank and get their own rolls to search and want them delivered to their door at a premium, then someone is going to provide that service.

Think unsearched wheat penny rolls. What do sellers of those do to get people to bid the prices up ?
