So I'm selling a few things on my local Craigslist and came across a few people with 1oz rounds looking to trade with what I'm selling. Thought that it would be a great way to get some silver without going through selling for dollars then buying rounds.

The first guy seems to think silver is so "worth it" that I should give him $50 trade value per round since "we all know that it's going to get there." If you know of a sure fire way to make 25% on your money, put it all in buddy. Why are you trading the good stuff away? Crazy wacko. I'll give you $50 trade value when silver's at $50, not $40!

Second guy asks to trade a single ASE for my $300 laptop. Wow that's an even more messed up valuation for a round if I ever heard of one.

Ive bought 2 things recently with PMs. One with gold the other silver. People here may want to consider starting to offer it at their local small town shops!!! Most dont want it, but the two who did, I had said the spot price, waiting for them to haggle the value with me. In one case it was a gold coin making up a large portion of a purchase..... I told them the melt value (and these particular coins sell pretty close to melt) and THEY tacked 50 bucks onto its value!!!! I hadnt asked for that, but wasnt going to complain. Apparently they just think PMs always have a premium. this might be because we have no coin shops here, and pawn shops charge nutty prices... Either way its a very interesting thing....

This isn't "Crazy Silver People" it is the unfortunate thought by most people that:

- If someone agrees to a bad deal that benefits only me, then I win.

It's unfortunate because they are wrong. The wealthy build their wealth through win-wins (and occasionally having someone "taken care" of, but that's another story).

I mean $50 premium on gold over spot for an oz, no problem. But these "premiums" were ridiculous! BTW local shops pay $30/oz, so I thought I was being very generous!

Wiki has some good notes on this in the "Gresham's Law" entry. The example given is not so good, though.

i wont say you cant be wealthy financially by a win-lose trade. Many have done this....

however your business model would apparently involve always sourcing new sheep to fleece. however if you do win-win, then very likely youll have repeat trades with said folks, which often opens new potentials.

Also is wealth ONLY about money? Or is there value in honesty and integrity? and the bonds we make when dealing with eachother as humans.... being an individualist I will often make my own path even when i have other options, but i cant count the times where in subtle ways I was helped through this mutual respect.

actually this was a modern commemorative $5 gold coin. It is of the same weight and purity as the oldschool $5 coins. So it was around .24186 AGW, so just under a 1/4 oz.

oh....shoot, i thought he was just plain baked.....hey, it being done, in fact thats what got me thinking about, "whats currency?"...coz i'll tell ya...in a grid down enviroment, intoxicants have a HIGH TRADE value....dont know if i wanna go into detail...lots of 'revenooer's' on this forum, and heaven forbid, i imcrimimate's meself....but also tobacco and coffee, big big trade value....thats why i been stocking and saving jars of instant coffee, cans of Tops roll yer own's....THOSE gonna cost a LOT of coin..a LOT.

lemme tell you something, there's a lot more one can do with copper tubing and kettles than just trade them for melt value...YEEEEEHAWWWWWW!!!!....thats why a fellow shouldnt throw away glass jars and tops anymore.

Yeah... I keep seeing folks selling halves and ikes on C-list for all kinds of crazy amounts. Cracks me up. I love contacting them and asking about them. I had one guy say "good luck finding Ikes for $1 bud... I'm selling them all day long for $5." Wow. I seriously wonder if he is selling them for that. The poor sheeple are soooooooo clueless! But... I say it's their right to be clueless on both sides of the isle there. I just haven't mustered up the... uh... lack of morales... to list them for that and sell them to someone who thinks they are worth that.
