Here in South Florida, people are advertising 24X FV and Im getting tons of hits by posting 25X...

Im moving to Denver again for school, and it looks like the going rate is 26X...

Not too wide a discrepancy, but still noticeable...

So whats the craigslist buyers market look like in your area?

I consider myself lucky to have found a gentlemen in the St. Louis area who is paying 30x (that was his going rate on Friday before Monday's big jump).

Generous!

I would never sell on craigslist to be honest, not when there is such a great community here...although 30X would have been convincing enough to dissuade me haha

I have, however, found craigslist to be a great place to search for some awesome deals...I plan to do most of my buying at a decent amount under melt and keep 50% of the profit after flipping in the form of silver added to my stack...

We will see how this plan turns out haha...Plans always seem better on paper

It is slim pickings up here. There is rarely a deal available on the Mass or NH craigslist for below spot. It looks like even the stuff listed at spot is getting scooped up quickly. Lots of stuff if listed at huge premiums. Most of the deals are for really small lots so if there is any distance involved in the transaction, the fuel cost can quickly eliminate any savings. I check CL 2-3 times a day for coins and I probably only find about 2 deals a month for under spot that are worth driving to. Sounds like things are much better in FL for buyers.

In Los Angeles I advertise to buy silver 90% junk at 25x face. That has not changed since the move to $43. Everyone else is advertising to buy between 28x-30x face. Needless to say my emails have diminished. As far as people selling, it is usually at 5%-7% above spot for dimes and quarters but can be easily bought for 5% under spot once you shoot them an email. As far as halves, currently they are not selling for less than $15 each and the dollars (peace or morgan) I'm not touching as everyone wants $37-40!!!
My listing will not change, once the dust settles (I hope it does), then I will continue to get more deals. I also check CL constantly as I have an office job that allows me to do so.

Post an ad under collectibles:

"I BUY OLD COINS

I pay top dollar, try and get a deal like this from a pawn shop or coin store...

Interested in anything pre-1965

I pay 25X Face Value (ie. a dime gets 2.50, quarter gets 6.25....)"

etc, etc...

You'll get people coming out of the woodwork haha...of course, you have to scan for similar ads and post a higher going rate...Here it was 24X so I posted 25X, but denver is 26X so Ill have to go 27...

Most here are paying 20X, I did find one guy that was at 27 the other day but can not find the email from him. My local "dealer" wanted to pay me .88 a gram on some stuff, same he was paying when silver was 36.

I just bought this one:

http://twinfalls.craigslist.org/clt/2559730608.html

Spot was $42.77, I paid his asking price of $80 which worked out to $28.60/oz, or 21x face. For $120 worth of Ag.

The best part was yesterday I sold for $60, a camping kitchen box I made 10 years ago. So I reduced clutter and for $20 out-of-pocket scored $120 in Ag! Whooohooo!

What topic do you list your ads under?? I hardly ever see any here on my craigslist so it might be something I should check into.

I post under collectibles...

But any search for key words [silver, coins, buy (or any combination)] in the for sale section pulls me up...

I believe theres also a 'wanted' section, which may be smart, but which I haven't ventured into yet haha

Some guy here has an for 10 x face...LOL. Several are at 21 times. I just posted one 22X. highest in my area was 21X

Cash for Old coins.

Will pay top Dollar for pre 1965 silver coins. Check around, we pay more than pawn shops, and Gold buyers.
If you find a higher price, let us know.
Paying 22 X face value.

Example,
10c dime = $2.20
25c Quarter = $5.50
50c half =$11.00
Silver dollars $25 and up based on condition.

Interested in any US dime, quarter, half or dollar 1964 and back
Also buying 1965-1969 Kennedy half dollars @ $4.50 each
Buying gold coins based on market prices.

How do you prevent a legitimate want ad from being flagged.

There is this guy in my area that is posting the same ad almost every other day and never has his flagged off. I post one and it gets flagged.

My guess too

Its a pretty petty move...whats your ad look like? Try putting in something about being a 'personal collector/investor' to prevent it from being 'too commercial'

I use to sell some stuff on Craigslist

I just got tired of meeting people and they would try to lowball after you told them exactly what you had and what price you were willing to sell at.

coin adds get blocked for me now by craiglist. I can't even post it. They used to make it on the boards for at least a few minites before someone flagged em.
