Was it worth it?

So I did a trade the other day via Craigslist. I traded 90% halves for his 40% halves at a 3 to 1 ratio. I thought that was pretty good deal for me,(calculated out that's about 82% melt for the 40%ers). But I was hesitant to let go of 90%.

I don't know, what do you think, was it worth it?

If you thought the trade made sense, then it was. As for me, I'd rather buy the 40% than trade in my 90% no matter what the ratio. My purchasing goes in this order, 90%, .999, 92.5% mexican onzas, 80% canada dollars, 72% mexican 100 pesos, 40% halves and finally 35% nickels. It should be .999 first, unfortunately that has a big premium (2 to 5 bucks over spot) so the next best thing is 90%.

I don't care for 40%, but it sounds like a bargain to me.

I would have done this deal also.
I've been buying some 40% ikes and kennies recently. My funds allow me to make a purchase like this and not having to wait so I could afford some better silver. :)

its a good deal for you.

if you figure 40% at $3 back of spot, then $1.50*(40.29 - 3.00) * .295 = approx $16.50 for 3 40% halves.

if you figure 90% at $1.50 back of spot, then $.50*(40.29 - 1.50) * .715 = approx $13.87 for 1 90% halves.

so you are making about 19% - its not a huge advantage but its worth doing.
