I went to my first coin auction tonight, I was hoping to get some silver at spot. Here is what I got and what I paid, the ones with grades are what is on the pack. I do not know coin grades

1) Morgans: 1884 vf35,1899-O Vf35, 1900-O xf---------67.50 for this lot
2) Morgans: 1900-O vf35,1901-O xf, 1921-D xf---------70.00 for this lot
3) 1853 seated liberty dime G, 2.00
4) 1.00 lot: 5 dimes: 1904,1923,1935S,1941,1941D,and 1964 half-------22.50
5)1.50 silver halves: 1946 booker t washington,1908 half, 1893 "Worlds columbian exposition chicago"--32.50

I never heard of the booker or columbian halfs

You did great on the Morgans. I wished I could see prices like that around here when I go to auctions. In this area the Morgans always sell for between $40.00 and $60.00 apiece and that is for the common date average quality ones. The better date better quality ones sell for between $60.00 and $100.00

Bud, you traded federal reserve notes for tangible silver. You got a great trade! (You really did make out well with those Morgans especially...)

I could have gotten three more lots of morgans for about 70.00 but it was the beggining of the auction and I didn't want to spend all my money right away. They had some .999 australian coins that I was waiting for since i didnt think they had collector value and would get them at spot, They where newer uncirculated coins (1998 and newer). I guess I was wronge because they where selling for over 70.00 each for the one ounce coins, the five ounce coin sold for 250.00

I also have another dumb question, does 1.00 fv always equal 9/10 ounce of silver no matter what combination of coins are used?

You killed it on the Morgans, nice score! I too wish I could find them for those prices at auctions here. People tend to really overbid them here. Most don't realize there's also a fee (10% for cash/check or 13% for CC) - I ALWAYS factor that into my bid.
