I received a copper round, as a throw in on a trade of silver for gold. I have no experience with this form of bullion. Is there a reason one should consider accumulating this form of base metal. Or is it bound for the end of the month Kitchen Sink Auction along with the other odds and ends I have amassed? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Todd

OK, When I don't know something I'll ask. I have heard this term thrown around here, and I would like to know it's meaning.
What is "FRN"?

Have seen this asked several times recently - many of these have been asked and answered many times, and some are even in glossaries that have been posted, but are hard to find. Wish it was easier for noobs to find them, but it's not.

I love those rounds, but the premiums on them price them right out of affordable territory. They are a terrible investment. Buy pennies.

Do a search on "*frn*" and you'll get a bunch.

You don't buy them as an investment, they are collectable, giftable, just plain neat. They're not for everybody, but neither are one ounce silver art bars from the 60's and 70's. Or for that matter genuwine gold plated bathroom fixtures for your humble abode!

I bought a half pound copper bar for kicks and giggles for $5 at a coin show awhile ago. It's nothing special, as I only use it for a conversation peice.

I bought one that has an "Atlas Shrugged" theme to use as a card protector when I play poker. I used to use an 1888 O Morgan dollar, but now that silver is more than $8/oz (spot when I bought the Morgan) I had to find a replacement. Other than that, I don't really seem them as a viable investment.
