anyone care to "appraise" these?

I have a friend who found these in his grandpa's garage... how in the world do you place a value on them? I would love to hear some comments on this.

ps they are Japanese 5 yen... looks to be a roll of 50 of them.

I spazed. For some reason I thought the roll was 50X50yen

I see there's one roll on eBay... I just thought it was cool to see the roll like that. Face value is only a little over $3.

I was hoping to see if there was some collectible / numismatic / special interest value. I have never seen a bank roll of coins from another country before. Would love to get my hands on some British coin rolls or something cool like that.

Its definitely cool but if they are common in Japan it probably isn't worth much premium. I agree I have seen very few foreign coin rolls. I've seen some rolls of Germn pfennig and 2 pfennig.
