Wow, that pile of junk went for about $1000 a ton. Ther must of been something really good hidden in that pile of junk.

OK, WTF? Now I have seen some of these auctions on the east coast go pretty high, but $1000.00 a ton for scrap barrels & steel? Yes there may be a few aluminum signs mixed in, but $20,000.00?

So once I get a pile of scrap rail that weighs 20 tons, it will be listed on E-bay. If it reaches 1000 a ton, I'll pay shipping to New York!

There's other auctions by the same seller that have sold for similar prices. Some have things obviously worth more than scrap (ie livestock gates and big culverts), others just look like junk. People can get really stupid at auctions.
