My first 1/2 of a ton

Postby CardsNCoins » Tue Jan 10, 2012 12:29 pm

After sorting today's $25 box of cents, my modest hoard stands at approximately 1,004 pounds. I'm still aiming for "at least" a ton, but I wanted to share my first 1/2 ton with all the good people here, and say thanks for having a great place like this available to guys like me.

That's the first thing I thought too was 90% after seeing CnC's silver bank mining totals.

Nice going on the 1/2 ton milestone!

Congrats! I'd trade my 30% copper rate while sorting my ton of copper for your half boxes that you come across. :) Keep up the good work, chief.

Congrats on your milestone. I just recently passed that one too.

FYI to everyone, I started a thread called "post your milestone here" with the intent that everyone could post their achieved goals there. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=659&p=93180&hilit=post+your+milestone+here#p93180

Alright you win.

ETA: Maybe your boxes are headed my way. The one box of halves that I've opened so far today had 18 silver keepers, 2 64's and 16 40's.

That's a great box Chief! Hopefully the rest of your boxes are just like it and better.

Hi Chief,
I'm very new here and to the coin hunting club. I know this is the copper board but a quick question, as I saw your thread on it here. I tried looking for silver for first time with a box of all denominations and nothing! Just figured silver is no longer in circulation. Am I missing something or specific to your location?

Thx

My goal with my 2 grands is to fill two 55 gal drums, I'm 64 and just got started. Need to know how many lbs. will it take to fill the drum? Should the 4 and 7 year olds keep helping Pops or will someone sell us some?

Just keep it up! For me, dimes are consitent, 1.5-2+ per box, and halves are hit or miss. With halves you can hit it big sometimes, but sometimes you are skunked. Just keep searching. Avoid quarters, they are slim pickins.

One ton should fill a 55 gallon drum. That's about $3000 face value. You can sort for them by hand with your grandkids, buy a Ryedale to sort $100 face value per 30 minutes, or buy in the marketplace here on Realcent. $150-$160 per $100 in coppers is about the going rate. Have fun and keep at it. It will pay off for your grandchildren. :)
