This is a pretty good article for beginners. Does anyone have any more suggestions?

Funny how there is no mention about having a firearm within reach at all times...
“Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined.”
"The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government - lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.”

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.” – George Bernard Shaw.

No bushes criminals can use for cover. Bars on the first floor windows (or unbreakable glass, wired glass, etc). An actual dog, not the fakery, or at least hook it to a burglar alarm detector. Make sure there is no way to use the porch or car port to climb to a weak second floor window.

Cops put out a lot of info on this subject, best to go to them instead of that first link.
