Last box offers Indian Cent and a Dime

Postby exbingoaddict » Tue Nov 16, 2010 11:46 pm

My last box was my best to date. Granted I'm not even bush league to many searchers on this board, having only gone through a dozen boxes.

It was a brick's plastic wrapped rolls box. This brick made me feel like a miner with the coppers and a farmer with all the wheat’s it provided. I thought the best kick would be finding a dime on the end of one roll. (10x the money, woohoo!)

The best was still to come as near the bottom I picked an 1899 Indian Cent. My second Indian to date. No King's though. Haven't pulled the big guy out yet but maybe we'll meet one of these days.

Attached is a quick photo of the 1899.

That's always exciting to get an indian. They are so few and far between! Nice find.

EXBA........ just a dozen or so boxes and two indians?

How is it that I have crunched through approx $5K in face (mostly by hand) and still have yet to find an indian. Heck they aren't even that valuable.

Is this some sort of curse?

I haven't found a Indian head either, and I've handsorted at least $2000. Found a really nice 1935 King George the other night though!

Nice! I've never found an IH either- gone thru maybe $1000 worth. I did finish up 4 boxes today though and found quite a few older wheats- 1916, 1923 as well as the typical 40's and 50's. That was nice. I once had a box of CWR and found 5 dimes in it- that's jackpot for me!

Found my one and only IH in my second box of cents I ever sorted. About $1200 later still yet to find my second.

Nice finds, some people have all the luck! I search bags from my local bank and I get copper percentages over 30%, but even after close to 100000 cents I still have not found one IH.

I found one in my very first box, so I asumed it would be a common occurence. That is still the only one I have found in twenty or so boxes.

Congrats on finding the Indian! I haven't found one in a long time. Sometimes you can go several months without seeing one.. and then you get 3 in a row. Conventional wisdom here is that it averages out to about 1 in every 250,000 coins searched.
