Die crack/break error?

Ran across this while sorting my nickels. At first I thought it was a gouge but the raised section makes me question that.
Any ideas?

It looks like some kind of error to me, I would have saved it as such. Have you tried looking for simular errors on ebay to see if any close to it may have sold recently? That is what I do when I find odd or not quite the norm looking coins. I spend a lot of time looking at error coins on ebay, so if I see one simular I will let you know...

It's just a deep gouge. It's not a mint error.

You might have a coin shop look at it.

It looks like the metal was pushed up on either side of the gouge to give it a raised look or feel.

The gouge was in the die....and when the die came into contact...the metal filled up the gouge while the die was being pressed down.

Really neat coin!
