Scored on Canadian Cents & Nickels

Postby copperhead57 » Sun Apr 29, 2012 7:54 pm

I purchased about $12.00 in Canadian Cents and $30.00 in Nickels the other day for face value.

Nearly all of the Cents were copper, and about 20 were George V. Only about 20 were copper plated zinc.

About 70% were 100% nickel, and 4 were George V. Most of the others were either the older Chromium plated steel or copper-nickel. Only a few were nickel plated steel

Keep an eye out for the keys and semi-keys with the GV's.

In the cents they are 1922 through 1925.

In the nickels they are the 1925 and both varieties of the 1926.

I went to a coin show today, and the guy at the first table I passed asked me what I was looking for. When I told him Canadian nickels and pennies, he started going on about "Why would you want to collect those? They're not going anywhere!"

So I look over at the edge of his table and see two Whitman Canadian cent folders, and he'd cut out the George V pages.

There were no key dates among the George V coins.

Might wanna recheck where you got that from copperhead. King George V (old dude with a crown) does have some worthwhile dates.

King George VI (Young Dude with no crown) has no key dates for the most part
