Not exactly "metals", but I am posting here because it falls under the power that a "unsearched" coin roll can have on an eBayer's ability to open a wallet. I've been keeping an eye on these 70s paperwight of stacks of cash that will either "look" like a stack of 100 $1s or 5 stacks of 100 $1s, example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/500-One-1-Dolla ... 231ec9e235For some reason, they consistantly go for the value of what the stack would be, $100+ or $500+. Nobody in their right mind would lucite a $100 or $500 stack of cash today, let alone 30 some years ago. I understand that maybe it has a "cool factor" worth perhaps $100, but would a larger one mean 5 times the cool? There isn't 5 times the cash in there. These used to be somewhat uncommon, word must be getting out because there is at least 1 auction going on for these at all times.
Am I missing something? Thoughts? Is anybody here bidding $500+ for 2 $1 FRNs on the ends of 498 pieces of paper in plastic? It would be cool to have one, but not $500 cool.
