What coin folders should I buy if I want to collect pennies? Are Whitman ones good? Are they made of a type of paper that will cause the coins to tarnish or something? I heard some negative reviews on Amazon that said the holes were too small.

The cheap Whitmans are a PITA to get coins into, and you can't see the back of the coin once its in place. You can also have problems with verdigris on the back side of the coins over time.

Dansco folders are top notch, but they're $20-$30 depending on the number of pages.

Damn. Just what i did not want to hear. I just feel like since I'm sorting tens of thousands of pennies, I should actually collect some, but if I have to either pay high prices or use books that will ruin the coins, I think I'll just not collect them...

Coin flips work well and are worth the price.

You might check at your local coin shop for a used album. We just got a Mercury dime album for free. And we have got others for a buck are two. When people sell off sets the coin shop pulls the coins out of them.

+1 on the used albums. My shop had used ones under 10 bucks. I have mine in a Whitman book. Not big value coins, just a spot to collect en.
