4% Yield On $25 Box?

Postby Shifty51 » Mon Jun 18, 2012 2:24 am

I went through a $25 dollar box from Loomis tonight and pulled 111 copper cents . I average 450 a box and the 9 boxes I got along with this box all yielded close to my average. Not sure what happened?

Here are some stats

Cu - 100
Cu 82 - 8
Wheat - 3
Pre 40 - 1 (1934)

What's the lowest yield you have ever gotten?

Lowest yield? 0. All 2011 zincs.
Second lowest, maybe 10% yield.

Wow, that's awesome. Even your worst isn't really that bad.

I'm not sure I've ever had one under 20%. Bags consistently do somewhat better than boxes, but other than that there hasn't been too much variance for me.

Yikes, the copper veins sure are scarce around your parts...even with your better boxes that is short of 20%. I get irritated if a box yields under 700 coppers here :)

Been awhile since I did a box or two. But 4% STINKS!

Try to find a bag source. My worse bag ever was around 11%. But mostly it hovers around 28% to 30%. I have nightmares of getting new boxes if my bag sources dry up.....!

Yep that happens and will probably happen more often sooner than later....i have had several bags with zero Cu cents...had a cuople bags with less than 5 Cu's each...just grab another bag or box and keep going.

"If your yields are low.. just sort more"

My lowest was 0% several years ago when they first started up the super sorter. I got several boxes of circulated zincs with 0 coppers. Started sorting these with the scale rather than the Ryedales. Some of the fastest sorting I ever did.

I'm running close to 15% coppers here. Maybe you just got an unlucky yield!

It seems like it's not worth it these days... Unless you have a sorting machine or lots of free time

I finished handsorting a box tonight with some decent copper amounts. I had at least 30 percent coppers, 1 Wheat from 1920, and 3 Canadians. Not a bad showing :)

Wow that is low, it is going to be a sad day when finding a copper is like finding a pre 64 dime. Maybe someone else is harvesting copper in your area?
