Ive got 2 big plastic tubs im keeping my pennies in...the bottom one is full and the other ive put on top...its half way full but now the bottom tub is bulging on the sides quite a bit....not sure what to do...i dont have a garage or a huge house....ideas?

Get them from deli's pizzeria's etc. Do not pay for them. You can also get them and 3 or 2 gallon buckets at your grocery store in the bakery dept. They use them for frosting/icing

Get smaller buckets. You can put them in a bottom cabinet, closet, or pantry. Any store with a bakery has them. Donut shops too

You could just try regular medium flat rate boxes with a bit of tape. Each would hold $100 face. Easier stacking in the corner of the closet....under the bed....the limitations are endless.

Just a thought.

Also, at roughly 68lbs each.....they are easier to transport if the need comes up.....or if you end up selling 'em to a local individual!

when i pick up my pennies, i usually get the customer ones from machines in bags. i empty those out and refill the bags with copper and tape up where i cut the bag open at the top with 3 strips of duct tape.works like a champ. also. i weight out the bags (you could count them) to 34 pounds each. whenever i sell a ctu i throw 2 bags in a medium flat rate box and ship. really easy. and the tape holds surprisingly well.

I use 5 gallon plastic buckets purchased from Menards/Lowes, etc. Now I'm nervous about them busting. I don't have very many, but they are way too heavy to move by hand, so hoping I don't have to move them to another location!

Has anyone on the forum who uses these kinds of buckets had them bust open? Also, I assume a heavy duty 2 wheel dolly as well as a couple of strong backs would be needed to move them—one at a time .

I think I remember someone saying that full, they weigh about 200lbs. Is this accurate?

Sheba, yes they weigh about 200lbs.

I have a hand truck to move them. I also use them when I dump. The most I have had in one is $288 in zincs. I am limited to $300 a day at the machine. So it works out.

If you don't stack them, they shouldn't bust open.

I once dropped a $500 box of halves in the bank parking lot. They were everywhere!!! I think that $200 worth of the rolls broke open. I've been more careful since then.

trash cans are a cheap method of mass storage.

Roll them up and refill the penny boxes from the bank and make $25 bricks.
Load the bricks up with 2500 loose coppers and tape them well.
Nice size to store and easy to count.
