Blank on both sides Penny???

Postby im2shakey » Sun Aug 12, 2012 7:50 pm

I have a penny that is blank on both sides, is their a way I can tell if it is a foreign coin or US penny? I could upload a pic if need to for determining purposes.

I have found one as well, supposedly they've given them out to people when they take a tour of the mint, then get into circulation. Nothing to special, but it's still nice to find something different.

It is a nice find.I have only found the zinc blanks so far and they are rarer to find than 1909 VDB cents or IH cents it seems.

I have found two in the last six months. Both were zinc.

I found another penny with no date on it. I had found one before and looked carefully, and it looked like someone had ground the date off, this one, hard to tell. It has some tarnishing on that area, like maybe they dumped some chemical on it and dissolved the date, that does not seem right, but it is a newer zinc. I'll have to get it under the stereoscope, which a friend has to see what's going on.
