If you are talking about the five gallon (paint type) buckets that can be purchased at places like Menards, my understanding from folks on this forum is that they will hold approximately 200 lbs of pennies which would be worth approximately $300. That is my understanding but would be glad to be corrected.

Out here you can get them at Home Depot and they call them Homer buckets. Of course Kitty litter buckets work fine, and they are free.

I found 4 gal buckets on craigslist for $1dollar a bucket. People sell them often enough with lids and most times at or below $1 a bucket/lid.

Must be a Midwest thing, I'm guessing menards isn't a nationwide home improvment store. But it is big out here in NE :)

Menards is the Midwest's answer to Home Depot and Lowes. We have all three here in this area ... all competing with each other for the home improvement dollar. I'm sure those buckets can be purchased at any of those three places ... but doubt that Lowe's 5 Gallon bucket would have Menards' name on it

SAVE BIG MONEY AT MENARDS!
Image
Bought mine on sale, 2 for $5 + $1 per lid.
I put 4 $50 bags in each.
It's much easier to move if I take out two of the bags.

Menards is another home improvement store. There are many in Wisconsin and probably the midwest too!

Some Menards info: Menards home base is up in Eau Claire WI we do have a forum member who lives right in that area, I lived in the area for a few, and went to college in Eau Claire. My half brothers grandpa who is now passed, was cousins with John Menard who does like to blow money on racing cars, his son Paul Menard races on the NASCAR circuit.

Yes! I used the Tidy Cat containers for my penny and nickel storage. Not sure how many gallons these containers are...but they hold 27 pounds of litter. I'm guessing they are about a 3 gallon size?

Anyone know? :?:

Of course.. the standard one holds about 18,000 and the jumbo size one holds about 22,000 cents. This is not shaken or stirred.

The Photos have already answered the question of colors ... used to be able to get Menards buckets in white with no printing ... now they are green and printed Menards. My problem will be moving them some day. Guess that will be work for my sons and grandsons

Used the jumbo tidy cats before I switched to heavy-duty bags...I shook each bucket down and stuffed about 190-195 pounds in each.
