Funny how you can live someplace for years and not know the history. Darned if I'd ever heard of these local mining operations. And here I thought Bristol was only famous for ESPN.
I've crossed over Coppermine Brook bridge about a million times, and do maintainance at a tennis club called CopperLedges...never put two & two together

That is a terrific article, Morsecode! I love reading history about old colonial coins and the first coins of our nation when it was young. Ditto on the geology lesson. Great stuff! Thanks.

Interesting article, Morsecode. The region where I grew up in MI, was one of the country's top copper producer regions (of the early 1900s), so had a lot of defunct mines nearby, and a lot of mining history in the area.
