Woman turning in halves at bank in $200 increments

Postby Pennysaved » Tue Dec 21, 2010 1:01 pm

One of my pick up banks has been having $200 to $240 in halves being turned in by a customer.

Two weeks ago I bought $240 and there were 10 40% in the lot.

I was there last Friday and they had another $240; I asked her if they were from a collector and she said no. She said there is a female client who was given a bunch of halves by an old employer of hers. She said she had no use for them and will be turning them in at the bank.

The teller told me that the woman had more to turn in and would be bringing them in at a later date.

The $240 I bought last Friday had 21 40% halves. I gave them my # again and told them to please call me if the woman brings any more in.

Today, I got a call that she brought more in another $200 today. I am hoping for some 90% here. :-)

Good luck i hope its all pre 64!
I had a lady like that a long time ago but it was with pennies, my bank called me up and said some lady dropped off a bunch of old labeled pennies and thought i would want them. Of course i did, i was hopping for wheats but they were all just copper with labeled dates.

You should just offer to buy all the halves from the lady directly.

Well I went today and she had turned in $280.

The teller told me that the woman had told her she was keeping all the "old collectible" halves and turning in the rest of them.

So I doubt I will get any 90%

She obviously doesn't know about 40% halves because she has been turning all of those in.

Out of $280, I found 54 40% halves. Not bad.

So you think I should ask the tellers to give her my #?

Yes better she sells to you at a fair price then what she might do with the "valuable" ones somewhere else...

That is awesome. Congrats! I had similar luck last week, although not quite AS lucky!

Went to get six rolls, got 3 40%'s.

Next day (Saturday), drove around to three different banks, no one had any.

Then I stopped at a Chase and they had 38 rolls in the safe. All I had on me was $160 so I bought 16 of them. Out of those I got 11 40% and a 90%.

So Monday I sent my wife (I had to work) to the same Chase to get the rest of them. 22 rolls 9 40%'s and a 90%. Total 23 40%'s and 2 90%'s.

Today another six rolls - Nada!

Conga rats, guys. There's still some silver out there, just gotta go get it. It will continue to trickle from weak hands to strong hands. Image

I went in on Thursday to pick-up my half order; I told the teller that she could give the woman my phone # if she wanted to sell me the "old collectible" halves. The teller said she would gladly do that when she sees her again.

I gave both the merchant tellers their own candy and the one teller was very happy. She said I can have all the halves I wanted for now on. Hopefully, they will continue to call me as soon as they get any in.
