Just getting started

Postby Silver Runner » Thu Jan 31, 2013 8:10 am

Hello all,

I have been a lurker here for a couple of weeks but I am a long time CRHer. After reading a great many posts, I decided to jump feet first into copper penny investing with the purchase of a Ryedale. I have been very happy with the product and plan to search through $200 in pennies per week. With this week being my first with the Ryedale, here are my results thus far:

$135 FV pennies searched
1 indian head cent dated 1903
52 wheat cents
$41.44 copper
30.7 % copper

I was extremely suprised to find the indian head cent.

Welcome. You don't waste any time.
Great find on the Indian. Be sure to add it to the Tribe tracking thread.

Lucky! I've still never found an Indian Head after searching almost 200,000 pennies.

Welcome to the forum.
267,500 pennies and 186,000 nickels searched. Hand sorter.

Keep an eye out for any more Indian head's they usually travel in small tribes. I was lucky enough to find 18 of them last year and 1 flying eagle cent. Nothing so far this year but an Army& Navy Civil War token. There are some amazing finds out there, just waiting to be uncovered.

Welcome to the forum.

That's probably because you didn't do the feathered dance.

Congrats to Silver Runner and welcome to the group. Keep an eye on the zinc side.. that is where the Indians usually fall.

I'd run that Ryedale as hard as you can with percentages of 30% copper, nice!
