I'm leaning towards real but I would like to get a closer look at the S. I would say it is between a MS-60 and a MS-63.

I'll too say au58.

As for authenticity, i'll be the first dissenter. FAKE FAKE FAKE, go ahead and send it to me for a dollar!

There are 4 die pairs for the 09-S VDB. This coin matches none of them. I submitted this coin to PCGS for a client before He or I did the proper research. Our Laziness cost him $37 in grading fees. The Coin is an old fake as it was inherited by the current owner. IMO, its a dandy of a fake and just one more reason why I would never purchase this coin online unless it was already certified. Another set of coins to follow shortly.

Another diagnostic for the 09-S VDB counterfeit is that the middle line of the "B" in VDB is straight. on a genuine coin it's slanted down from right to left.

14-D on the left looks like it's either cast, or struck with spark-erosion dies. Not sure about the one on the right--don't have any books to check that mintmark is right. I'd send that one in to PCGS!

Both 14-D's have been to PCGS.

One is in gradded plastic and belongs to a forum member. The other belongs to the owner of the 1909-S vdb exhibited here.

I'll say VF-30 for #1

It looks like they got a lil aggresive in carving off the cross piece of the 4 in #2

The 14 d on the left is real, the center of the D looks like a triangle.
I'll guess VF-20.
