Postby hobo finds » Thu Feb 14, 2013 1:03 pm

How long ago was it that zincs melt value was at face or higher? And what was going on with zinc for the price to be so high? What was the value of a copper cent at this time?

I only document metal prices on an end of month basis, and have been doing so since Jan 2011.

The highest EOM price for zinc during that time was July 2011, with Zinc at 1.1309 and Cu at 4.4423. The Zinc penny's base metal value was .67 per cent.
The highest EOM price for Copper during that time was Feb 2011, with Zinc at 1.1289 and Cu at 4.4806. The Zinc penny's base metal value was .668 per cent.

Prior to that, I believe that it was sometime in 2008, when copper was approaching $4/lb and Ni was close to $14/lb (but I don't remember the price of Zinc at that time. But if I had to guess, it would be right about then!
