TO be honest, the people who are to blame are the shady, take any case, slimy lawyers. Years ago when restaurants, shops, bakeries and such would give leftover or unused products to those who were in need, shelters, soup kitchens and such. But you had a few people "claim" that they got sick from said donations and went and got a lawyer to sue "Don's Bakery" or whatever. Judge rules in his favor and "Don's Bakery" has to pay for his own donation!! So why would you want to risk helping others if there is a chance you can get sued for it!!! So now everyone is uber overly cautious. This is the America that we have become. Gone are the good 'ole days

Well, in this case there is nobody to sue since the store was going broke anyways.
Also an almost non-existant risk with sealed cans, it not like it's a bunch of random
food and non-food items thrown in a pile.
I find it overly generic how this was reported on, I'm quite sure most of the cops
thought this was stupid too.
Basically this whole thing is really at the heart of it the fault of only 2 people:
#1: Whatever idiot thought this was a reason to call the cops, a crowd showing
up to accept given away goods is not a crime.
#2: Whoever in the police department gave the orders to block people off and
call in a disposal company.
