Found a 1860 dirty one last night. Washed it with soap and warm water. You can read the date but it is pretty dirty. How should I clean it or just leave it alone?
1906 IHC found today. In very good shape. The 'LIBERTY' is worn off the headband but most of the rest of the coin is in decent shape. Same bag of pennies produced three '43 steel cents and a 1855 German 1 pfennig coin plus a good number of wheat cents. One of the best penny bags I have found this past year.
Well after appx. $750 FV sorted, I found my first IH today. It's a 1905, pretty worn on the front, but readable date!

"You can go if you want, but all they make are coins there"- Quote from the Philidelphia, PA visitors center desk clerk, after inquiring about going on a tour of the MINT
5 little Indians since I started hunting coins in February. 1862 1880 1883 1891 1900. All found in MWR from loomis. I will take a picture next time I break out the sorter opertion.
Its been just over a year for my last IH. All go through a zinc reject machine and then those "rejected" coppers go through a copper accept machine and those rejects are then check visually and/or weighed. BAM. Indian Head dance. I am not an active IH searcher they just show up. A 1907.
My wife took my oldest son to the school play so I was home with my six year old. We were tearing open rolls from a brinks box and he spotted something. A few high fives later and we were looking at a 1906 Indian Head in good condition. My finst Indian Head ever out of around 600,000 ($6000) pennies searched.
Just found an 1888 IHC this afternoon. In good shape. No LIBERTY on headband but good shape otherwise. Irony is, I am more likely to find IHCs or buffalo nickels it seems than silver halves or war nickels lately. Still, fun hobby and all that. Maybe all these coins I find will pay for gasoline costs I spent ($$) schlepping dump coins to banks over the years
