At least that's technically the same value. ^_-
I was at a postal outlet a few weeks back and got a Phiilipines 1 peso coin in place of a
quarter. I decided "good enough" because it was something I thought was interesting
even if I didn't know the value at that exact moment. (The Phillipne Peso is not a currency
I watch on a regular basis. ^_-) I looked it up when I got home, worth 2.5¢.
Both of the 2 customers ahead of me were Philipino so I suspect it wasn't in the till long.
The thing is Canada has so many commemorative quartes by now, the U.S. has all the
state quarters and now a bunch of parks quarters (which are generally accepted here
anyways) that nobody thinks to look too close at a coin that looks different anymore
since there are so many variations circulating.
This reminds me of when I went to Burger King a few weeks back. The total was $5.14
so since I had exact change I get out a $5 bill, a dime, and 4 pennies. The girl says
"we don't take pennies anymore" and just takes the $5 bill and the dime, so I figure
OK, this only costs me $5.10. Then for some reason she thought she had to give me
change and tries handing me back some kind of coin, at this point I have to explain
that she doesn't owe me any change back. I mean it's only been a few months and the
sight of pennies is already confusing people! :-O
What's next, handing someone a (steel core ^_-) penny and them thinking they owe you
a bag full of $100 bills back?
