I KNOW I KNOW.... BEEN DONE BUT... SILVERPLATE????

THE search engine is just not what I want.

at what price do things like a medium size , wm rogers bowl become viable for melt value?????

I was at a thrift this afternoon and they had a bunch of stuff on the dollar table......I felt foolish not getting it. and would be even more chagrinned if the old lady caught me bringing it home.

also a nice stainless serving plate ,, 18/14??? for a buck.

If buying as scrap I would base my purchase price on the base metal, not the silver plating.

If they dont have a halmark and or not worth anything yes base metal value, copper or brass. Just have to make sure the scrap yard knows it is brass or copper

No one has found an economical method for reverse-plating silverplate. The plating is extremely thin, and the value of the silver is not high enough (yet) to make the process worthwhile. Goldplated items are a different story.

Silverplated items are usually brass, and sometimes copper or pewter. I've also seen silverplated steel - ugh.

When you see a company paying a high price for scrap silverplated items, they are usually making money on the items that are base copper or pewter, and breaking even on the brass.

I get clean yellow brass price here.
If I have the gift of prophesy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to move mountains but do not have love I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned but do not have love it profits me nothing.
