Nice! So do you think your parishioners didn't know what they had? or did they know that you know what they had?

It was my friends parishioners. Most people have no idea what they are putting in the collection. Unfortunately most priest hand these in to the banks at face value. Luckily for my friend I pay spot price for them :D

This being said I have only found about 6 silver coins in the collections of two churches. I rarely check (too many coins and no time.) A lot of it goes right back into circulation. Yesterday was my "day off" and I was in my friends church instead of mine and I saw the coins their and asked to look through them. I"m glad I did! This has been the biggest find in a single day for me, ever! I was very happy.

Right on. That's not a bad system though...you could get dozens of parishes to funnel their trickle of silver your way!

I wish. Most parishes do not have the manpower to search for stuff. Many don't care, they consider it too much work for little gain.

Father if you would offer more than face you might get more silver.
That what I did when my church had a penny ( or a coin) drive. That is a win-win for all.

I once got a great deal for a box of halves on ebay. It was all collection plate silver. a new priest was taking over the duties of a church, and their old one had saved the silver for who knows how long.

I once got roll of halves from the bank. It had the name of a church written on the outside of the wrapper. It was a solid 90% score!!!
