Have pretty much given up on scrapping, but I do still save aluminum cans. Sold 7 lbs. for an even $4. They were supposed to give me $3.85 (55 cents/lb.), but it was near the end of the day and starting to pour rain so he gave me $4 even.

NOTE: ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- often
substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) and selling short as well.

Yep I pass up steel a lot of times, but then again if you are breaking down things you will end up with some steel. I have several loads of it to get rid of around my house. If I need a few more pounds to fill up the truck most of the time the steel is still out there to get!

Was out of town in the Seattle area earlier this summer and, on a Sunday, saw an entire metal roof sitting by the street with a sign that said "Free". There was no way I could do anything. If I was at home, I'd have taken all of it. The house appeared to be about 3,000 soft. or so. Oh well...

Turned in 260 lb of scraps/shred steel found on a neighbors front curb, they are moving. Turned it in @$100/ton (5 cents/lb). Got $13. Not bad.
