What did you scrap?

People ask sometimes why certain things aren't quickly snatched to go to the scrap yard. I mention that a 20# 2-drawer file cabinet takes up a fair amount of room in my SUV and pays less than $1. I have to load it, unload it at home, load it again the day I go to the scrap yard and unload it again when I get there. So I handle it four times and pay for gas- not worth it.

i opick them up as a way to have a ..container,, to fill with other things.

All from one place. not moving this stuff 2 more times, once on the truck, needs to go straight to yard even at these prices. Nasty stove, fridge, washer, washer/dryer combo stacked( heavy, Cement in the bottom?) , dishwasher, a few Cpu , Heat exchanger Unit thing, The two AL/CU radiator came home, need to cut off the steel ends and separate the copper and brass off for max value any ways.
I have been hoarding Copper,Brass, wire, AL for the time being don't have a lot. thinking of saving batteries and AL/CU rads to.

I stuff Computer cases with smalls all the time. the new girl checked last week what was in them. I told her I sell the boards for dollars a pound not cents. , about 10 cases Some how she didn't check the only CPU I didn't strip, was stuffed full of Mouse House - pink insulation, was gross put the cover right back on, to bad was a $ old cpu. don't think they can except stuff with personal info on it?(hard drive) or just no printed circuit boards? I did ask. She didn't know LOL

They're less desirable materials and IA is mostly affected by the price of steel. It's not worth my time to clean up most of the breakage type scrap I get. I've got more productive things to do.

hey the last bunch of caps got REUSED. man made them into table tops at a bar. one was a very cool us of a flag.

some bars put them in pretzel or pub mix plastic jugs for me. others put them into grocery bags. not like when i was doing full time dumpster diving. using a magnet to pck them up.

I think I understand now. It sounds like you are referring to the metal bottle caps that you use a bottle opener to remove. I thought for a minute you were talking about the PLASTIC bottle caps that come with plastic water bottles, etc. That would be insane!

i have changed my method of doing plastic, now i put the powerade,gatorade type into one can and the ones that i crush into another. then i turn in the uncrushed on a shorter time frame.

A sign to me that someone died is when I find all kinds of personal family photos in the trash sitting by the curb.

Always sad....my dad died recently but fortunately he had planned ahead. What was left could be held in a shoe box and nothing was worth more than 20$.
