Older keys. Scrap? Sell? Other?

Postby thecrazyone » Sun Feb 19, 2023 3:53 pm

What is the best thing to do with old keys going back to the 1950's or so? are they worth scrapping? Or do I just dump them in the trash? Want to hear from the experts :)

Some in the mix are:

Excelsior 152
Skyway Luggage (x2)
Chicago Key M2413
Slaymaker 2707

I'm not an expert (not even close) , but you should be able to sell them. There are collectors (I met one at a flea market last June). I sold a five pound box of assorted keys to that collector. Didn't make a lot of money, but definitely made a profit. Your keys are probably better than the ones I sold. Therefore, do not scrap. People buy them for arts and crafty things. I would try and sell them. Make sure though you are getting more than scrap brass price for them.

In that case, you sell them all at once as a single lot. Don't allow people to cherry pick.
