I've found 37 of the 123 NIFC small dollars, so 30%. Still a lot to find. I'm having a two-week staycation next month when I plan to hit banks with a vengeance, especially some I've never visited.

I used to have accounts at about a dozen banks. Just so I could get coin. Now, I canceled most. When they started ,fees. Also, around here, not a member....sorry, can't sell you coin.

My bank has dozens of branches in town, I go to perhaps 10 or 12 somewhat frequently so there are a lot more to explore. Plus, some grocery stores in my Coinstar route have mini-bank branches in them (where I don't have an account) and I always ask them for small dollars. They usually don't care that I don't have an account and are glad to give up the dollars. I use one of my branches for dumps, but lately I've been dumping a lot there so I may have to spread the misery to another branch. The problem with that though is that I can never pick up at that branch again.

One thing I haven't tried yet is stopping by other banks where I don't have an account, since I'd be limited to the cash I have on hand. Something else I'd like to try are the banks in our China/Koreatown areas. Lots of smaller, lesser-known banks and who knows what goodies they may have.

If I were you, I would pound the crap out of these "other banks.". If you don't, then someone else will. Also, whenever I go to a bank without an account, I purposely request smaller amounts to reduce the chance of rejection. But then again, I am only seeking pennies, nickels, and half dollars.

During my usual bank route today I tested the waters and stopped at one of them on the edge of Chinatown, Cathay Bank. Asked for a pamphlet about savings accounts and then sprung my "Oh, by the way..." speech. Pleasent enough guy told me they only sell to account holders. Wonder if more will be like that.

And tried again today, at two larger banks near me where I didn't have an acct. One had none to sell, the other had $100, which was the most she could sell to a non-account holder. But she was extremely nice and said I could come back for the rest another day. Even suggesting I go to another branch where she would be next week, as a floating manager of sorts I'm guessing. Well, surprise, she actually sold me $101 since one of the rolls had an extra coin, and included a...

Most of them were large, out-of-my-network banks who were happy to sell. Even got $100 in Ikes. I'll get to the smaller Asian banks probably later this week or next.

I keep only the ones I need for my Whitman folders. Exceptions are proofs and the American Innovation series, since they're really low mintage.

For sure check for the Cheerios 2000-P Sacs and for any with missing edge lettering. Some are pretty worn so they've probably been circulating in Ecuador and El Salvador.

I spend some at grocery store self-checkouts, but most go right back to the bank.

The others...I roll the presidents. I use a roll to pay for stamps at post office. Last week , I bought silver grab bag at a pawn shop.

About 20 years ago I remember getting a few hundred in small dollars from a BofA because it was news that the 2002 Sacs were gonna be NIFCs. Got mostly all SBAs...including one 1981-S. Found an NIFC all right, just not the one I expected. Fast forward to this past December and I found an 81-P. If I find any more I'll save them since, as my Dad would say, they're scarcer than hen's teeth lol. Oh, and I've only found one 70-D half, so right on with your comparison.

$86 in small dollars from the bank today yielded one NIFC, but it was a new one! Could've gotten about $110 more but one teller didn't come in (she told me to come back today) and another wouldn't sell me $60 since I didn't have an account. My experience has been most banks will sell up to $100 if you don't have an account. I even mentioned that, but couldn't convince her.
