Stocks: War Story about GD Culture Club (GDC)

Postby Recyclersteve » Sat Aug 24, 2024 1:08 am

8/22/24 (TH): This is an absolutely wild story about the GD Culture Club (Ticker: GDC) stock I sold today. I sold a modest 500 shares and made a tiny profit of just $14.82. That doesn't begin to tell the story.

Just 2 days earlier (on 8/20/24) my unrealized loss was a whopping 81.3% ($3,030). I didn't sell then, but kept holding on. The stock had to go up a whopping 438% in just 2 days for me to get out with a profit!

At the low point (4/16/24) my unrealized loss on GDC was even bigger. On that date is was a 92.2% ($3,435.00) loss.
Note that I traded this same stock 3 other times in May, 2023 and earned profits of $1,375.39, $974.90 and $985.89, respectively. So the total profit on all 4 trades combined was $3,351.00.

Two other times the stock went nuts.

On 4/28/23 (F) it closed at $2.50 with only 21k shares traded. The VERY NEXT DAY (5/1/23- M) it hit $44.00 and traded over 12.3 million shares.

And back on 2/17/21 GDC hit a whopping $348.60 after being $21.00 on 10/6/20. Over the next 3+ years it fell from $348.60 to just 58 CENTS on 4/16/24.

There was no apparent news to cause this 8-employee company's stock to move so wildly.
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

NOTE: ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- often
substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) and selling short as well.
