*Pre-Sale* Does that mean that the seller does not have this in his possesion? 90.4 pct positive feedback doesnt sound very great.

Pre-sale does mean he doesn't have them. How this clown can guarantee delivery when he can't even be sure he'll be receiving them at his bank (unless he has a line to a direct Fed distribution) is the obvious rip-off. But no one is holding a gun to the heads of these presumably brain dead bidders, so there's that.

Presently, his listings include a half dozen additional 2025 pre-sales...all of them headed to the stratosphere already.

This is clearly a scam. Notice the 57 bids!!!!! Lots of shill bidding specifically designed to inflate the price. This is not a real sale. I would sell this box (if I had one) for 50-75 dollars plus shipping.

The amount of criminal/scumbag sellers is absolutely insane. That's one of the reasons why I like to buy coins for face value! I am hoping to buy these rolls for face in the spring or summer.

It may be some kind of scam, but shill bidding probably isn't part of it. There were 22 individual bidders, most of them with high feedback numbers. I don't even know 22 people on ebay, much less 22 who'd be willing to shill my auction.

Besides, to what end? The seller has to pay ebay fees based on final value (in this case around $100 out of his pocket)...what's he got to gain from screwing around? Not to mention he has several more of these 'pre-sale 2025 cent' boxes listed, most of which are already north of several hundred dollars. I can't see him getting away with telling ebay none of his buyers completed the sale. They're gonna want their fees.

I put the blame on the bidders. He has terrible feedback, but it's mostly from greedy snipe bidders who thought they were buying mayonaisse jars full of 90% silver for 60 bucks, when the fine print clearly described otherwise. Shady certainly, but not outright scam.

My theory is there are gullible people out there with more money than common sense who believe the facebook rumors the penny is ended. As for sure some bidders who are just clowning him and trying (succeeding) to make his listing look ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure that most of the 22 bidders were legit. However, all it takes is ONE bidder to shill up the price. Or as you mentioned, one clown messing around. People have been gullible for centuries, but this gullible!?!?!? A thousand dollars!?!?!

Getting back to the shill bidder and the fees, I believe that ebay cannot collect fees if the buyer does not pay. The seller can always relist for free. If people are really willing to pay that much for something not so special and not rare, then they are really dumb beyond belief.

One final thing: we should look at sales six months from now and compare.

Does anyone know what states these pennies are being found in?
