The "Bears" are back 15kg of silver in a Tomahawk missile?

I was a MM III combat crew commander. (TS-SIOP ESI security clearance). I know a little about missiles.

What is IIITYIHTKU?

Thogey, MM III? i had a TS-codeword clearance....and i saw "SIOP", which is 'single integrated operating plan'....and i was thinking, i know how it is, you're trained, you do exercise, you train more, but could you, or would you, or did you ever envision turning that key?

i dont say this patronizingly, but i always felt sorry for you airmen in that duty, not only do you have to turn the key if he balloon went up, but you were also target one. i;ve studied various elements of nuclear warfighting for years.

thanks for your service bud, neil (USN-ret)

Yes I would have turned keys. I can still recite the execution message steps, not that I do since they are TS. But you know as well as I. Those missiles are going is mass if the balloon goes up.

(ALCS, TACMO).

We were about 100 feet underground. If attacked, the ground another 100-200 feet beneath our feet would be blown into the stratosphere. We would have had it easy!

you too, thanks for your service.

I remeber seeing an article several years back talking about the Uranium enrichment plant at Hanford, WA where they used something like 400 tons of silver that was irradiated to the point that they couldn't return it to the treasury.

The Manhattan project used 14,700 tons that was eventually retured back in 1970.
