I find it extremely strange people would pay that much more for something they can still get for its base cost? why wouldnt those same people just try to buy it right from the mint, and if they failed for some reason THEN buy it in the open market? what am I missing?

Expect a major slowdown on the mint website. I have 3 browsers open and logged in.
