Welcome Back to Half Hunting!!!!!

Postby JobIII » Fri Aug 26, 2011 7:33 am

So freaking excited for this weekend.

After 2 solid months of Cu sorting, I'm expanding to half dollars.

hopefully it won't impede my 80box/week penny routine...

Anyone in the Northeast ... You have a little more competition 8-)

Where are you in the Northeast? I did a few boxes about a year ago, but all were skunks--and all Brinks boxes. Kinda got discouraged when I read the rumor that brinks was mining for silver. Also, up here in 04945, I have to drive for well over an hour to get to a bank that is willing to get halves in for me.

After following DB and some of the other Northeast silver hunting members posts, I got the itch to search. I'm hopeful the next round or two will present me with something like what I was finding last year...

All in all, I really prefer hunting for silver versus buying these days

Jackman, wow that is the real Maine. It makes me feel like a city boy to tell you that I hail from Kennebunk. I love it up where you are and I would move up in a heartbeat if only there was some kind of work up there for me!

Back on the topic of halves. I wish you luck Job, I had terrible luck with bank boxes of halves this year and gave up a month ago. I know that you have to just keep sorting to find the big score, but I just have more fun doing pennies and nickles lately. Halves just got to be more work and than fun for me.

Thanks NH,

I'm also getting quite a bit of pennies at the moment. I've set a limit on them and will switch back to AG hunting once i get it. From my experience skunks seem to be a large part of half hunting with one or two moderate to large scores happening over the course of the year.

check this post I had last year --> http://realcent.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=607

That one was the first major score in about 4 years. And a lot of skunks.

I couldn't maintain the nickel hunting, but the pennies are my fall back at the moment.

There's some work up here, if you're in the right field. Fortunately my field allows for a lot of down-time at work, which is where I sort most of the time, since I just do it by hand.

BTW, my first two boxes back into the scene were skunks. Fortunately I'll be travelling for about a week, so I'll harvest what CWR's I can then.

Nearly forgot to request the order for this week. Last week was skunk #2, and no 2011 coins this time...
