I would think that many of these stores simply pull their own inventory off the shelves. I would not want to sell anything at a loss either.

I highly doubt that he has no inventory. I'm guessing that's his way to save face with his customers.

I bought on Wednesday 530 pm est at my local brick and mortar establishment. Paid 98% of spot for 90%. It worked out to be in the neighborhood of 28.7X. I bought today at about 330 pm and paid 22.3X. There is still physical to be had out there. I did lose about 25% of my Wednesday purchase in $$$ though. The joys of averaging in!

I made a stop at my local coin shop this morning. He had a few silver dollars in 2x2s in the case for $35-$40. But in the past he has always had a bowl of dollars where you could pick your coin for a price close to melt. Not today. I asked if he had any dollars, halves or junk silver and he said "not right now."

He finally said he could pull a few "culls" out of a roll for me to look at at $25 each ( $1 over melt). He handed me 7 or 8 dollars to look at after he sorted them back at his desk. A couple of drilled Morgans, a couple more with major rim damage.... I picked the best three out of those that were in pretty good condition with no major issues. Asked again about halves he said "No, not right now" -- Pretty sure he's bought at close to $40 and doesn't want to take a 25% loss on them. And I don't blame him. I was glad to get the three at the price he sold me.

I did get a nice Columbia button up shirt and an ice cream maker for $2 each at the flea market - :D - no silver at all there today though.

Anybody else checked in at their local dealer this weekend..??

Went to the few pawnshops I know to look for some cheap DVD's and Jerry Maguire VHS tapes for Everything is Terrible!.....noticed some signs:

"Due to the fluctuation prices of Precious Metals, we must add a 20% fee to items."

I just left with some Pokemon DS games to play.

In San Antonio, I bought $13.20 FV in 90% dimes at $22.50X around 11AM on Saturday. I wanted dimes and didn't ask for anything of higher face value.

Had me thrown. I just made a spreadsheet of everyone who has feedback (w links to feedback threads) and he was not listed.

Some people are listed twice, or more.

Thank for the plug Mark.

Yes, I sell coin silver for spot.

I am a dealer and continue to sell at "a loss" and not hide my inventory. I sold 2 100 ounce bars today that I paid around $4000 for $3300 (Canadian). However, I also ordered a bunch of stuff today to replace it at today's cost and will sell that at whatever the price is when it arrives (plus my premium). As long as you buy the same amount wholesale as you are selling retail, the business stays intact. I make money on the spread, not the silver price.

However, I own a significant amount of silver personally, and it sucks to see the price drop.
