Lets hear what is the most pennies you have picked up at a bank at one tme??? What was the reaction from the banks tellers that had to move all the pennies for you

??

I'll start the thread off with my lame record and then the others can embarrass me. 8 Boxes of pennies is my biggest pick up. It is also my weekly standing order. I don't want to sour my relationship there by asking for more. I tend to stop by any random banks that I am driving by if I have a spare minute. I always ask for as many pennies as they are willing to sell me. I ask if they have surplus or if they want to clear up some space. The most I have scored doing this is $70 face! I don't know why no one has pennies to get rid of around here.

On Mondays I have off from work when school is in and its bank day. One bank we were in we asked if they had any to buy and they had only about $15. When the teller went back to get it some one next to us asked to buy $100 of cents . My son Franklin said we should sell him some out of are truck because we had just pick up a bag of $50 at the bank down the street. And we did right in the bank. It is funny that we at most times have more pennies in are truck than the bank. Also the the man in the bank told the teller that the pennies were for his elderly mother who looks for old cents.

Biggest? Not enough to talk about. But my smallest pickup was $1. I was on a day trip to Catalina Island this summer and the one and only bank on the island was willing to part with two rolls for me.

51 boxes of customer wrapped rolls. The bank had just received the proceeds from a penny drive from a local church.
I made the vault tellers day when I said I'd take them all.

Most without a cart.. 8 boxes!

Most with a cart.. 48 boxes.. $1200.. they messed up and doubled my order that week. They were really happy I was willing to take them all. Maybe this is why Washington Mutual went under. :mrgreen:

Really? Uh, well...hey, even the big ones need lovin too, right?? :lol:

The most pennies I picked up at a single time was $50.00; that was the score that I recently posted about here on RC...around 668 Wheats or so and 71% copper. The teller said the guy told her that they were in storage for 20 years and his mother had died and he was cashing them in. Other regular hauls are typically $30 to $40 in CWR's.

You must live in the wrong part of country. We have had this discussion here before but the tellers in this part of the country are GREAT LOOKING. I don't know who is doing the hiring at these banks but it seems like the only women they hire for tellers are in their twenties and beautiful.
