Realcent Poetry

Postby rexmerdinus » Mon Oct 03, 2011 11:58 am

Got a wild hair today--there's been some arguing lately on here that seems to get a little heated, and the markets have been kind of exciting too, so I thought maybe we could all use a little Zen to balance things out. I'm not much of a poet, but I thought I'd try my hand at a Realcent Haiku 'cause they're nice and short and sweet. Anyone else have anything to offer? Maybe we could run a contest or something. 5-7-5 is the "traditional" syllable count, but hey--it's up to you! Here's mine, which took about three minutes to come up with:

Silver searching souls
dumping fiat FRN's.
White metal abounds!

Anyone else?

Ok, one more for now and then I swear I'm gonna try to get the books closed for the month..

My wealth you secure.
Your density, your shimmer.
You are true money.

There once was a man from Nantucket
With a stack that filled a large bucket
When the time came to sell
He'd hidden it to well
Yelling "I can't remember where I stuck it!"

Come and listen to a story ‘bout a Doc named Chris,
A dentist, and for silver, yes, a bona fide whiz.
Seems one day in a mouth he wuz a-drillin’
When up through the tooth come a little silver fillin’.
(white stuff that is, shiny, sparkly)

Well, the first thing you know ol’ Chris is in love,
Get between his silver, he’ll treat you to a shove.
Said little fillins, ain’t no fun no more,
So he made hisself a mold and he began to pour.
(bars that is, size o’ swimming pools)

Well, now it’s time to buy those bars so Chris can make some more,
Really ain’t no chore he sez, Please git 3 or 4.
You’re all invited ever’ time to spend your bucks right here,
Put ‘em in your pickup trucks and drive home with no fear.
(IRS that is, sheriff’s department)

The issue is constitutionality
The problem is green and rather flimsy
The solution is hard currency

I wrote and shared this over the summer about coin roll hunting, but it looks like it fits better in this thread.

We stalk a prey who does not breath, nor run from us in fear.
It hides from us in box and roll, both paper wrapped and clear.
Our interest is it's silver coat that glints as well as gleams.
Just thinking of it's capture fills heads with happy dreams.
It is a sport to be enjoyed by man and woman and child.
And everyone should feel the thrill of a rescue from the wild.
Box by box and roll by roll the battles are all fought.
So much time goes to the hunt, perhaps it's me that's caught?
