Bank Error in your FavorCollect $20.00

Postby Diggin4copper » Wed Oct 05, 2011 9:13 pm

:D Dumped about 30 dollars in pennies today.. the last couple pennies were spinning around and the counter said 30.06 or so,, suddenly there was a bang and a click and the counter wentto 49.00! It then said "see attendant"
The teller came over and went into the management screen, it said the counter was mis-aligned. I told him it put extra money on my total.. after working on it for a few minutes with the manager, they handed me the 49 dollar ticket and said "Have fun" ...
Made my morning!

Must've had a jammed $20 Saint Gaudens finally come loose :D

Don't you love how they just give it up? I swear, if I didn't have to work I'd spend every day dropping off 50 cents in zincs at every TD Bank in central CT.

Now that I think about it- it was probably some poor sap's money you got before you (or a collection of 'misplaced miscounted' coins hung up) that were knocked into your pile.

I wonder why that why the manager gave you the credit with a grin, if it was hte banks money he would be fighting for it tooth and nail!

The bank has to keep an accurate total of things. When they run the machine report at the end of the day the machine can't sat it payed out that $45 and the bank teller only paid out X amount.

My guess is that its a counter that counts based on the coins going down the shoot. What I mean by that is that the machine sorts by size and when the coin falls down the shoot to go into the bag it passes through a sensor. The sensor either malfunctioned or there was a jam up of coins that finally broke loose.

I've had this happen to me not to long ago. That bank may just contact you once they figure out that they overpaid you.

Funny sidenote, yesterday my pick-up bank tried to give me an extra $25 box of pennies. I had to count my boxes twice b/c they were loaded in with other pick-ups that day, before turning it away.

Once when I was dumping zinc-uns there was a guy ahead of me dumping halves into the DeLaRue counter at my CU. When it was my turn I started by checking the reject tray and it was empty. After a while of dumping I noticed halves started appearing in the reject try. By then the guy before me was gone. In all I think I had 4 halves that appeared. They must have been stuck somewhere and broke loose with my zincs.

Strange, its usually the complete opposite with me. The halves usually shake lose any foreign/silver coins in the chute. Today i dumped and my halves knocked out an australian half penny and a 1964 rosie.

this is exactly why I ALWAYS dump my halves into the machine first then zincs. I don't care if it miscounts the zincs by a few. ;)
