Yep. They can make all the nasty "loser" comments they want. I work hard and make a good living. I find it relaxing and fun to sort pennies. There are worse things i could do with my free time. I plan to pass mine to my kids, they understand the metal value opposed to face value.

Local Penny Hoarder Featured On Nightline

MEDFORD, Ore. -- A penny saved could mean two pennies earned for a Medford man and his son, and now their story is being featured on national TV.



Joe Henry has a ton of pennies. Literally. He has 2,000 pounds of the coins. Now, what started as a father and son project could turn into an investment down the road.



Joe started collecting the pennies with his autistic son, Frank, as a way to teach his son social skills. Through the collecting, they learned the value of a copper penny is worth about a penny and a half. Pennies were made of about 95% copper before 1982 and now they're made of mostly zinc.



Their collection got the attention of Nightline, who will feature the Henry's in a piece Friday night about penny hoarding. Joe Henry says the time it takes to get enough pennies to get a major windfall isn't worth it, but says he is continuing to collect for his son.



Henry says he doesn't know exactly how many pennies he has collected over the years, but he has invested in a penny-sorting machine that sorts the copper pennies from the zinc ones.



Henry's full story will be featured on Nightline tonight at 11:35, immediately following NewsWatch 12 at 11.

Tell me about it. I've listed ten-pound boxes of pennies on eBay and sold only two in the last month. That despite having the lowest price on eBay.ca .

This is making me go to the bank on Sat now to pick up a couple boxes and I'll probably increase my sorting rate. Storage space isn't an issue, just time....I need 32 hour days..........lol.

I laid in eighty more boxes yesterday.

Spray your lure with some WD40 it works great.
