Keeping a Rydale Quiet

Just wondering what some of you are doing to keep your Ryedale QUIET!
I have tried taping foam to the chute but it did little.
Anyone have any other thoughts? Pics would help.

I've found putting a small soft cover book over the coin cup, or on top of the extension hoppers will calm it down a bit. The problem comes from the coins as they eject from the feeder, and enter the chute.
I took some foam rubber tape (armaflex) and lined the underside/ bottom of my chute, and the slap plate (outboard side, towards operator) at the bottom of the chute seems to help.
Without building a sound proof chamber, it's really hard to keep it quiet.

I've found this suggestion works best for me. I've also found that, so far, I quite enjoy the sound of it running. It's progress. And I'm far enough from the girls' bedrooms that they don't wake up when I run it. Andy, maybe this is your chance to come up with a deluxe model for the distinguished crowd! Twice the price and half the noise!

See the bottom of this linked post for how I lower the dbs. My hearing is not great from too much loud music in college. I got a set of Bose Quiet Comfort 15 headphones for Christmas. They work great by just turning them on with no audio input. There is still enough noise that you can hear the machine running but it does make it quieter. I also have some cheap shooting ear protection that I got at Wal-Mart for less then $10 and they work well too.

I'd totally be up for a deluxe Ryedale model if its quieter, faster, and has a less chance of jamming. Even if costs $2,500 I'd look at it as an investment and buy it. The Apprentice Legacy is such a good machine, I'd love to see what an (even more) deluxe model could do.

I would've suggested chloroform, but.....there was that one incident in Las Vegas.....

I'd totally be up for a deluxe Ryedale model if its quieter, faster, and has a less chance of jamming. Even if costs $2,500 I'd look at it as an investment and buy it. The Apprentice Legacy is such a good machine, I'd love to see what an (even more) deluxe model could do.

Won't go into all the details, but it will have auto shut off, which has been successfully developed in the "Ryedale Skunkworks dungeon"
Lots of work between now and then, but you could see a version of the old Coin Artist box coming back. Looking into a cool operator interface.
Don't hold off on buying a machine now, as this is still in the fantasy/development, and Apprentice owners will probably be able to trade in towards the new machine.
I had not had "quiet" on my official request list, but it has come up many times over the years so it's on there now.

Or if you insist on running one.. look into buying an old Coin Artist.. if you can get anyone willing to turn one loose. The Coin Artist runs quieter than the Apprentice.

You could also make a dedicated room just for your penny sorting operation so it doesn't bother anyone.
