1965 dime

Is it copper or silver?

I know the Coinage Act of 1965 should make it copper, but if the Act was in 1965, in what year precisely did the silver dime was replaced by copper/nickel?

64 and earlier are silver.

Is it normal that it's not magnetic at all? I mean: if it were nickel it should be, right?

The only magnetic US coinage is the 1943 steel penny. Even US nickles are not magnetic because of the copper mixed in. You need to have a much higher nickel percentage to get it to stick to a magnet. Such as the older Canadian nickles.

Look at the edge of the 1965 dime and you'll see that it is clad. The 64's and older are solid silver on the edge. Weights are different too if you have a gram scale. Look at www.coinflation.com and if you click on the individual coins it give you a content breakdown and a bunch of details. Wikipedia has good info too.

It is copper-nickel with the copper core. The first few months of 65 the mint continued to produce silver dimes with the 64 date.
