Please price this lot for me (scrap refining)

Postby TXBullion » Mon Jan 30, 2012 4:15 pm

So I'm looking to buy this (sorry if the person that sent it is a member :D )

I don't have a weight and I assume some of the stuff is not marked, maybe mismarked. What you comfortably offer for it and think you would make out ok by having it refined?

Suggestions and expertise are appreciated

First you do have to have a weight(only marked items), and then offer .50 cent a gram. Just my 2 cents

Thanks , I ended up sending 35, might be too much but the temptation was bothering me. i should have lowballed at 15 and said split the profits if it ended up being more worth than that or something along those lines.

Thanks scrap man

A rough count of 2 Grams per a charm (around average) and a rough guess of the bracelets puts me at 90 Grams if marked Sterling or .925 proper.

At Something like .80-.85 cents a gram (what a good refiner will pay) puts a low offer of $72.

The little airplanes dont look correct, the shell looks iffy. and the bracelet/bangle with the inlay are 99% never silver. They tend to be marked Mexico Alpaca or nickel silver- be wary of that that bracelet. Also I see a Siam charm that needs to be looked at carefully.

The issue is that so many things can be silver- but mostly their plate. Its like picture frames- 99% of those are silverplate, but the minute you give up you find a sterling one (one out of like 200) so things that dont look right also carry the sliver of a chance that it might be that one sterling item.

thanks bman,

Will see how things thing pans out. I figure there is little to no downside since it will be through paypal and he is stating it is all silver so I have some level of recourse. Plus this isnt my day job so I still have a lot to learn
