Silver Coin Flea Market Finds

Postby Franco American » Sun Feb 05, 2012 10:57 am

Hi everyone, I am a new member of this group and wanted to tell you about the flea market finds I found today. I should start out by telling you that I am an American currently living and woring in France. I had been feeling left out reading about your bank finds so I decided to start checking out the local flea markets, I went to one of the many Sunday morning flea markets today and found the followng coins:

1921 S Morgan Dollar - paid $19.74
1916S Wheat cent - paid $.66
1943P Nickel - paid $.26
1951 Canadian Quarter - paid $.26
1953 Canadian Dime - paid $.26
(5) Silver Roosevelt dimes - paid $5.17

I know most peopledo not get this kind of chance but I would suggest to anyone visiting Europe to check out the local flea markets for American coins. They are not collected here and there are opportunities to score silver under MP.

So how cheap can you buy the old franc coinage that is .999 nickel?

I have not priced any of the old francs because that stuff will be priced at retail over here. I found the things I posted in boxes of miscellaneous "foreign" coins...

Nice little hunt! I haven't been to France since 1990, There were some nice places to visit over there and got tipsy in several disco techs as they called them.

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. It is nice to get the encouragement that I am going about this the correct way. I only wish I would have thought about it earlier. I was here for 4 years and probably could have really cleaned up. BTW- for those of you who are interested, a Big Mac value meal costs more like $7.80 total at the current exchange rate. :D
