I "Walked" into the "Barber" shop!!

Postby jtlee321 » Tue Feb 14, 2012 2:15 am

So I have been out of the coin roll hunting game for about 9 months. Last week I decided to test the waters again and ordered 16 boxes of Halves. Well I got a total of 27 40% and 1 90% from those boxes. Then today I dumped the last of the Halves at a bank I had not visited in a while. While I was there I scored a 40% discount to the local "Barber" shop for my buddies "Franklin" and "Kennedy" just for "Walking" in.. :D I can't believe I finally scored the Home Run and pulled a Barber (My first), Walker, Franklin and Kennedy out of the same $500.00 bag. It came straight off of the coin counter. As soon as I saw the teller set the bag down I could spy a silver edge. When she handed me the bag I noticed a Barber sitting in it. I quickly asked if I could get the bag of Dimes and Quarters from the machine as soon as they drop. She wrote a note with my name and number and taped them to the bag. I think I will make a trip in tomorrow with some dimes and quarters to top them off. I don't think I can wait for them to drop naturally. Well here is what I scored out of that bag. I will be posting photo's tomorrow of the coins. I think someone dumped a small collection at that bank. I will post the outcome of the dime and quarter bag here.

That is unbelievable! What an awesome score!

<JEALOUS>Congratulations!</JEALOUS>

Seriously though, I would love to see the photos, and the results from the rest of the bag.

Very nice.

I've done 750 boxes since I started and not a Barber in sight.
If you are waiting for the "correction" to buy you need to realize that the increasing prices ARE the correction.

I was expecting a joke. Two blondes walked into a bar. You would have thought the second one would have ducked.

congrats on the nice finds.
I've never been able to get my hands on the half bags unless they're from someone's dump bank.

Do you know how rare it is to find that?

Where do you live... a small town or a city?

Well i picked up the bags of dimes and quarters and nickles and nothing. Just 1 silver dime. Those Halves must have been sitting in the bottom of that bag for a while. Long enough for the quarters and dimes to have been dropped and shipped off anyway. Oh well, can't complain about hitting for the cycle!! And as promised here is a photo of the coins.

Pay dirt alright. Great hunting. I am still on sabbatical. I could only get boxes locally and I think that the coin service providers were culling the silver.

Thanks for sharing. I did find a few Barbers after over a million halves searched. You have to play to get paid.
